Manufacturing Engineer

Direct, coordinate, and actively participate in the effort of continuously improving the production system.  Develop manufacturing processes, tools, machinery and plant layouts for the cost effective manufacturing of the company's products. 

 

Primary Responsibilities

  1. Assist in analyzing and selecting equipment to be purchased.
  2. Develop and lead projects that eliminate “waste”
  3. Design and implement the necessary tooling and equipment to support manufacturing.
  4. Keep abreast of new technology in the area of equipment, tools, processes and automation.
  5. Assist in reviewing methods and processes in an effort to increase productivity.
  6. Assist in developing routings and standards for the cost effective manufacture of products and components.
  7. Use time and motion studies to ensure accurate and optimum standards for new and existing products.
  8. Maintain a 40 hour work week and ability to work overtime as needed.

 

Additional Responsibilities

  1. Facilitate group events that focus on safety, housekeeping, quality, & productivity.             

 

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  1. Must have a BS in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or related technical degree or equivalent experience.
  2. A good communicator, able to listen to other suggestions and ideas.
  3. A good planner, capable of producing results.
  4. Computer skills to include AutoCad, Basic, word processing and Lotus
  5. Knowledgeable in Lean Manufacturing & One Piece Flow concepts
  6. Ability to operate machining equipment.
Pipe Extruder (Dallas)

A Pipe Extruder is responsible for performing and maintaining the daily activities associated with a production line.  This includes housekeeping, safety, quality, maintaining production efficiencies, repair and maintenance and minimizing downtime.  This position requires the flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required.  Ability to work varying shifts is also required due to equipment changeovers.  A Pipe Extruder reports directly to the shift Production Supervisor.

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

The reponsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  1. Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain safe working record and environment
  2. Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts, or injuries to Production Supervisor
  3. Assist with Preventive Maintenance program as required
  4. Practice proper forklift operation and preventive maintenance
  5. Maintain facility housekeeping
  6. Maintain and build job skills through company training programs
  7. Meet or exceed standard production efficiencies on all production lines
  8. Completion of shift production and reporting paperwork
  9. Troubleshoot process and mechanical problems and perform repairs and adjustments to meet production needs as required
  10. Maintain ability to operate various production lines and prcesses effectively
  11. Adhere to GF product sampling schedule
  12. Perform tooling changeovers in an efficient manner

Maintenance Mechanic (Dallas)

Perform a regularly scheduled preventative maintenance on all plant equipment in accordance with the plant preventative maintenance program.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Inspect all plant equipment daily and report problems to the Maintenance Supervisor.
  2. Inspect all fire extinguishers monthly.
  3. Inspect all emergency lights and safety equipment monthly.
  4. Inspect vapor degreaser daily and ensure its proper operation.
  5. Assist millwrights, electricians, and machine control technicians when assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
  6. Clean plant equipment including oil spills and leaks, dust, water or anything else that creates a safety hazard.
  7. Work with the department supervisors in performing preventative maintenance to ensure limited production downtime.
  8. Inspect all plant vehicles weekly.
  9. Perform all daily, weekly, monthly semi-annual and annual preventative maintenance as called for by the plant preventative maintenance program.
  10. Inspect all air conditioning or heating units and service as needed or scheduled.
  11. Abide by all company safety and hazardous materials programs.
  12. Ensure that all waste materials are disposed of properly.
  13. Complete small repairs on lubrication systems.

 

Education, Experience and Skill Required

  1. High school diploma.
  2. Must be able to communicate with others.
  3. Must be able to follow oral or written instructions.
  4. Must be able to document all preventative maintenance.
  5. One (1) year experience as a machine oiler, auto mechanic or have a history of mechanical abilities.
  6. Must be familiar with hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrications systems.
Technical Services Manager (Shawnee)

Technical Services Manager oversees all activities related to product testing and approval as well as daily operation of the product testing laboratory facilities.  Technical Services includes management of customer training programs for all products manufactured by Georg Fischer Central Plastics, LLC.  Technical Services includes analysis of returned products and field support of products.  The Technical Services Manager interacts closely and personally with members of management, production, quality, and sales/customer support.  Technical Services Manager works directly with customers on a frequent basis sometimes requiring travel.

 

Primary Responsibilities

Manages day-to-day laboratory activities, equipment, and personnel.  Provides product technical support to inside and outside contacts.  Manages internal and external product training programs related to products and services.  Establishes performance and test criteria of new products approved for design and development.  Management of ISO9000 quality system.

 

Additional Responsibilities

Generates test reports and technical documents as needed.  Generates customer correspondence related to product testing/returns.  Represents Georg Fischer Central Plastics at Technical Industry organizations and standards writing groups (ASTM – PPI - SPI - AGA).  Serves as back up for internal and external quality audits.  Other duties as assigned.

 

Knowledge, Skills and Requirements

Engineering or related degree and/or previous related work experience of more than 3 years is required.  Strong analytical and troubleshooting abilities.  Strong written and oral communication skills at individual or group level.  Ability to understand and write technical documents such as test reports, procedures, and product standards using Microsoft Word, Excel, and other systems as needed.  Willing and able to travel domestically, occasionally to frequently, as needed.

 

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Must be able to work a 40 hour work week.  Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods.

Exposure to hazards such as electrical and moving mechanical parts.

Required to wear eye or other personal protective equipment protection when necessary.

Exposure to hotbath, hot and cold conditioning equipment.

Product Engineer

Creation of Product Specification together with Product Manager and Production. Development, design, and test involvement of new products according to Product Specification (CAD, FEM, and other tools). Analysis of competitive products. Project Management of development projects (time, cost, quality, applications, control, and communication). Support and Cooperation with other departments (purchasing, tooling, production, sales). Documentation of development results (calculations, drawings, BOM, master item). Locate/secure contacts to customers / suppliers. Lead designer or other team member to completion of the development project. Performance/conformance of products to regulatory requirements (internal, standards, etc.). Release of proven designs, drawings, products. Consideration of GF global directives. Documentation. Definition and conduct of reasonable test conditions as required by regulatory requirements. Consideration of standards and patents.

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely-related field of concentration is required.

Customer Service Representative

Previous experience in Customer Service or related field is preferred.  Looking for outgoing energetic self starter who is interested in building lasting customer relationships, while multitasking in a busy work environment.  Must have good written and oral communications skills.  Ability to maintain consistency and accuracy.  Must be able to handle most types of product inquiries.  Basic math skills are required.  Must be self motivated and able to work well with others.  Computer proficiency should include Windows and Microsoft applications.  Must be able to operate general office equipment including copier, fax and ten key.  Previous Oracle experience is desirable. 

Physical requirements:  Must be able to sit for extended period of time.  Ability to climb stairs.  Must be able to view a computer screen and talk on phone for extended period of time. 

Shipping/Forklift driver (Dallas)

High school diploma or its equivalent, desired. Previous experience working in a warehouse.  Forklift experience is required, must have a valid state driver’s license.  Knowledge of inventory and RF scanning guns. Excellent math skills are required.  Must be able to lift 50 lbs in a safe manner.

Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.  Clarity of vision and the ability pick product orders from the warehouse.

Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required).  Steel toed safety shoes are required for the position.

Machine Operator/Assember (Shawnee & Dallas)

High school diploma or its equivalent, desired. Knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices and procedures within manufacturing environment. Must be able to lift 50 lbs in a safe manner.

Must be able to perform repetitive motion. Examples: walking, reaching, bending, twisting, stooping, pushing, pulling, and standing for extended periods of time.  Clarity of vision and the ability to focus on a fast and repetitious operation for extended period of time.

Exposure to machine noise levels (hearing protection required).  Steel toed safety shoes are required for the position.
